Description

This traditional meatloaf recipe is juicy, flavorful, and made with simple ingredients for the perfect cozy family dinner. A classic comfort food that’s easy, reliable, and always satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, onion, milk, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix gently until just combined.
  4. Press mixture evenly into the loaf pan.
  5. In a small bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard.
  6. Spread glaze evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for about 1 hour until center reaches 160°F.
  8. Let rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Do not overmix the meat to avoid a dense texture. Use 80/20 ground beef for best results. Let meatloaf rest before slicing so it holds together. You can substitute breadcrumbs with crushed crackers and milk with broth if needed.
