Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 small onion, minced
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1.3 pounds ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup seasoned whole wheat or gluten-free breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon marjoram
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons ketchup with Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook onion until translucent.
  4. In a large bowl, combine turkey, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, salt, and marjoram.
  5. Mix gently until just combined.
  6. Transfer to a loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a baking sheet.
  7. Spoon sauce over the top.
  8. Bake uncovered for 55 to 60 minutes.
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

93% lean turkey creates a juicier texture while still keeping the recipe lighter. Do not overmix the meat mixture. Rolled oats can replace breadcrumbs if desired.
