- 1 whole chicken, about 4 pounds
- 1 12 ounce can light beer
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 to 4 tablespoons chicken rub
Instructions
- Preheat your Weber grill for indirect cooking at 300 to 350 degrees F.
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and coat it lightly with olive oil.
- Sprinkle the chicken rub evenly over the entire chicken, including inside the cavity.
- Open the beer and pour out about half of it.
- Place the beer can on a stable surface and carefully lower the chicken onto the can so it stands upright.
- Place the chicken on the cool side of the grill for indirect heat cooking.
- Close the lid and cook for 75 to 90 minutes until the breast reaches 165 degrees F and the thighs reach 175 degrees F.
- Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes before carefully removing the can and slicing.
