Description

This Roast Beef Sandwich brings together juicy sliced beef and a rich cheddar cheese sauce on a sesame bun—pure comfort food, made from scratch in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2½ tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1¼ cups milk
  • 1½ tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 6 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1216 oz thinly sliced roast beef
  • 3 sesame burger buns

Instructions

  1. Make cheese sauce: Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour; cook 1 minute. Slowly add milk, mustard, and salt, whisking until thickened, 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat, add cheese by the handful, stirring until melted and smooth.
  2. Assemble sandwiches: Divide roast beef among bun bottoms. Spoon cheese sauce over beef. Top with remaining buns and serve immediately.

Notes

Try adding lettuce, tomato, or red onion for extra crunch. Toast buns under a broiler for added texture. Cheese sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge up to 4 days.
