- 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 for balance)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (any variety)
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 cup ketchup (for glaze)
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tbsp mustard
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place a wire rack on a baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Mix gently by hand until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 6-8 equal patties.
- In a separate bowl, stir together 1/2 cup ketchup, barbecue sauce, and mustard. Spoon the glaze over each patty.
- Place patties on the rack. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Optional: Broil for 2-3 minutes at the end for a crispy top.
Notes
Avoid overmixing the meat to maintain a tender texture. Great served on buns, sandwich bread, or with mashed potatoes. Make a double batch and freeze leftovers for quick meals.
